What is SCUPA all about? |
The South Carolina Upstate Paralegal Association ("SCUPA") is affiliated with the National Association of Legal Assistants ("NALA"). In furtherance of our affiliation with NALA, we have adopted certain goals, objectives and programs for our organization; which includes establishing good fellowship among its members and the legal community, and encouraging growth through education and training in our profession. SCUPA also believes in giving back to the communities in which its members work and live. Throughout the years, our organization has assisted with meeting the needs of many local organizations, as well as members of our community. Through organizations like A Child’s Haven, Let There Be Mom, Safe Harbor, Harvest Hope and many more, SCUPA has been able to foster a sense of community service among its members.
WE INVITE YOU TO JOIN US! Founded originally as the Greenville Association of Legal Assistants in 1979, SCUPA has been active in the upstate of South Carolina for over twenty-five years. Our members are paralegals with very diverse legal backgrounds and are employed with most large law firms and corporations in the upstate, as well as many smaller firms and some freelance paralegals. SCUPA also believes in giving back to the communities in which its members work and live. Throughout the years our organization has assisted with needs of many local organizations, as well as members of our community. Through organizations like A Child’s Haven, Let There Be Mom, Safe Harbor and many more, SCUPA has been able to foster a sense of community service among its members. SCUPA holds a monthly luncheon on the second Thursday of all months except for October (when we hold our annual seminar) and December (when we have our annual Holiday Party). Many of these luncheons are educational and serve the purpose of satisfying Continuing Legal Education requirements. For 2021, the luncheons will be held at CityRange Steakhouse Grill, 615 Haywood Road, Greenville, South Carolina. Please email info@scupa.org for more information. For more information about membership, please contact Patsy Ahearn at membership@scupa.org.
