PRESIDENT Brandy Ableman, ACP, SCCP president@scupa.org Paralegal | Huff Powell Bailey Over ten years of experience in the legal field, including Employment Law and Medical Malpractice Litigation SCUPA member since 2014 Although raised in Florida, Brandy has lived in Greenville for over twenty years and is happy to be raising her three children in Upstate South Carolina. Her oldest daughter is currently attending college at Florida Southern College in Lakeland, FL, but her daughter in High School and son in Middle School keep her very busy. When Brandy isn’t busy with her work or family, she enjoys running, hiking, yoga, binge-watching Netflix, and listening to true-crime podcasts 1ST VICE PRESIDENT, PROGRAMS Sarah Duggan, MA, CP programs@scupa.org Paralegal | Dority & Manning, P.A. Current Legal Experience: Intellectual Property Law (Trademarks); Estate Planning & Probate Law; Business Law SCUPA Member since 2020 Originally from Augusta, Georgia, Sarah moved to the Upstate in 2016 to continue her academic studies at Clemson University. While completing Greenville Technical College’s Paralegal Program, she was named the National Association of Legal Assistant’s 2021 Student of the Year. With experience in higher education and communications, Sarah is excited to apply her skills within the legal field. Outside of the office, Sarah enjoys ballroom dancing, cooking, and watching Clemson football. Sarah and her husband Chandler reside in Simpsonville with their French Bulldog, Schöne. 2ND VICE PRESIDENT, MEMBERSHIP Lisa Cherry, CP, SCCP membership@scupa.org Criminal Defense Paralegal| Law Office of William G. Yarborough SCUPA Member since 2021 Lisa is a Greenville native and a criminal defense paralegal. She has two children, enjoys coffee, and true crime. Lisa's past adventures include water skiing, soccer, roller derby, skydiving, camping and traveling. Her current adventures are keeping her plants alive and lifting weights. Her future adventure is a vacation in Hawaii. 2ND VICE PRESIDENT, PUBLICATIONS Patsy N. Ahearn publications@scupa.org Paralegal | Childs Law Firm LLC SCUPA Member since 2018 Patsy has been a paralegal in both New York and South Carolina for 4 years focusing on personal injury and civil litigation. She is a volunteer Guardian Ad Litem for Greenville County. She also serves on the Greenville Tech Paralegal Program Advisory Committee. In 2021, Patsy was recognized as one of Greenville Business Magazine’s 2021 Best and Brightest 35 and Under. She has over 17 years of Family Law experience and enjoys spending time and spoiling her grandkids. Treasurer and Accounting Jennifer Little, CP, SCCP treasurer@scupa.org accounting@scupa.org Paralegal | Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd SCUPA Member since 2012 Jenn has over ten years of experience in the legal field, including Workers' Compensation Defense and Insurance Defense. She has been a SCUPA member since 2012. Jenn was born in Connecticut but has lived in South Carolina since she was 6 years old. Jenn is a 2005 graduate of Clemson University with a Bachelors of Science degree in Sociology with an emphasis in Criminal Justice and a minor in Chemistry. She is also a 2013 graduate of Greenville Technical College with an Associate in Applied Science Degree in Paralegal Studies. Outside of work, Jenn stays busy with spending time with her furbaby (Shellie May), hiking, listening to true crime podcasts, reading, enjoying anything Clemson related, and being a Disney fanatic! NALA Liaison Tasha Dillard, CP nala@scupa.org Paralegal | Boggs Law Firm, LLC SCUPA Member since 2016 Tasha graduated from Clemson University in May 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology. However, Tasha’s growing interest in the legal field led her to further her education and she graduated from Greenville Technical College with a Paralegal Associate in Applied Science in August 2016. Tasha previously served as SCUPA’s Secretary and Treasurer. Tasha was the 2017 NALA Affiliates Award recipient and SCUPA’s Paralegal of the Year in 2018. Tasha enjoys spending quality time with her family, assembling jigsaw puzzles, and traveling. SC Bar Liaison SCCP - Paralegal Board Questions Melanie Harper, ACP, SCCP scbar@scupa.org Paralegal |Elmore Goldsmith Kelley & DeHoll SCUPA Member since 2016 Melanie has nearly two decades of experience as a litigation in paralegal with a concentration on construction law. She has been certified through NALA since 2007. Melanie enjoys living in the Upstate of South Carolina where opportunities for exploration of the city and natural environment are abundant. Hiking, reading, and spending time with family and friends are her favorite activities. |
